Frequently Asked Questions

Free vs Pro

What’s the difference between the free and Pro versions? The free Advanced Pixel Editor plugin includes sigmoidal contrast, unsharp masking, real-time before/after preview, crop & resize, and Media Library integration. Advanced Pixel Editor Pro adds Photoshop-style Levels and Curves, brightness/saturation/hue, artistic effects (sepia, vintage, duotone, B&W), watermarking (text and image), batch processing for 10–100+ images at once, and saved filter presets.
Do I need the free version to use Pro?Yes. Pro is an add-on — it injects features directly into the free plugin’s editor page via WordPress hooks. Both must be installed and active.

Installation

How do I install the free Advanced Pixel Editor plugin? From your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New, search for “Advanced Pixel Editor”, click Install Now, then Activate. Or download the ZIP from wordpress.org and upload it via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
How do I install the Advanced Pixel Editor Pro plugin?
  1. Install and activate the free Advanced Pixel Editor plugin from WordPress.org.
  2. Download the Pro ZIP file from your ProWoos account.
  3. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and upload the ZIP.
  4. Activate the plugin and enter your license key under Media → Advanced Pixel Editor → Settings.
What are the server requirements?
  • PHP 7.4 or higher
  • WordPress 5.6 or higher
  • ImageMagick (Imagick PHP extension) installed and enabled
  • For Pro: the free Advanced Pixel Editor plugin must be installed and active

License Activation (Pro)

Where do I find my license key?Your license key was emailed to you after purchase. You can also find it in your ProWoos account → Orders. License keys follow the format AIEPRO-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
How do I activate my license?Go to Media → Advanced Pixel Editor → Settings in your WordPress admin. Enter your license key in the field provided and click Activate License. The page will confirm activation with a green status indicator.
Can I transfer my license to a different site?Yes. First deactivate the license on the current site (Settings tab → Deactivate License), then activate it on the new site. The number of simultaneous activations depends on your plan: Personal (1 site), Professional (5 sites), Agency (25 sites).
What happens when my license expires? The plugin will continue to work, but you will no longer receive updates or priority support. Renew your subscription from your ProWoos account to restore access.

ImageMagick

How do I check if ImageMagick is installed?Go to Media → Advanced Pixel Editor → About. The System Information section shows whether ImageMagick is detected and its version. You can also check via Tools → Site Health → Info → Server or by asking your hosting provider.
My host doesn’t have ImageMagick. What can I do?Most managed WordPress hosts (SiteGround, Cloudways, WP Engine, Kinsta) include ImageMagick by default. If yours doesn’t, contact your hosting provider to request it — it’s a standard server-side library. Shared hosting plans sometimes omit it; upgrading to a VPS or managed host usually resolves this.

Image Formats & Limits

Which image formats are supported?JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP. Edited images preserve their original format — PNG transparency, WebP, and GIF are all kept intact when saving.
Is there a file size limit?By default, images up to 10 MB and 4096 × 4096 pixels are supported for optimal server performance.

Save Modes

Will editing overwrite my original image?Only if you choose Replace original — and even then, an automatic backup is created so you can restore the original at any time. The default Save as new image mode leaves the original untouched.
How do I restore an original image after replacing it?From the attachment edit screen, click Restore Original. The plugin uses WordPress’s standard _wp_attachment_backup_sizes mechanism, so the backup is preserved automatically when you replace.

Updates (Pro)

How do I update the Pro plugin? With an active license, updates appear in Dashboard → Updates just like any other plugin. Click Update Now to install the latest version. You can also download the latest ZIP from your ProWoos account and upload it manually.
I’m not seeing the update notification. Why?Ensure your license is active (check under Settings tab). WordPress checks for updates every 12 hours — you can force a check by visiting Dashboard → Updates and clicking Check Again. If the issue persists, try deactivating and reactivating your license.
Is it safe to update? Will I lose my settings?Yes, updates are safe. All your settings, license activation, and processed images are preserved during updates. We recommend keeping a backup of your site before any update as a general best practice.

Batch Processing (Pro)

How does batch processing work?Batch processing lets you apply filters, watermarks, or format conversions to multiple images at once. Go to the Editor tab, select images from your Media Library, configure your operations, and click Start Batch. Processing runs in the background via WP-Cron so you can continue working. Check progress on the batch status panel.
Can I save and reuse filter combinations?Yes. Pro includes Filter Presets — save any combination of contrast, brightness, saturation, watermark, and other filters as a named preset, then apply it to a single image or a batch with one click.

Accessibility & Mobile

Is the editor accessible?Yes. Full keyboard navigation, ARIA labels, and screen reader support are built in.
Does it work on mobile?Yes. The editor is fully responsive and touch-friendly, including the before/after comparison slider and the crop overlay.
